I have been a member of our
Auxiliary since November of 1974. Jim
and I were married in 1973. We have two
wonderful daughters and three sweet grandchildren. Although Jim comes from a railroad family,
with both his grandfather and father involved with the Katy railroad, I knew
nothing of the railroad and had a lot to learn.
I was young when I married and had moved a state away from my family, so
I had no family or friends in the new community in which we lived. At Jim's suggestion, I accepted an invitation
to join the auxiliary in Osawatomie, Kansas, which was his home terminal. I appreciated the opportunity to make friends
and get to know other women who lived the same lifestyle that I was trying to
get accustomed to. It has been a
positive experience for me and I am grateful to have been able to serve my
auxiliary in several officers. I hold
the office of President of Helen Gould Auxiliary #235, and have held the office
of Alternate International Secretary, and am the current Alternate National
Treasurer. I have enjoyed attending
every Southwest Convention Meeting since 1988, and am honored to serve on the
Scholarship Committee for the organization.
