Anti-Trust Bill scheduled for
As reported in the April
Legislative Update (see http://www.bletauxiliary.net/Legislative%20Update%20April%2009.htm ),
we are in opposition to the Railroad Antitrust Enforcement Act of 2009,
S.146.
On May 21, Senator Harry Reid
(D-NV) made a motion to proceed to consideration of the Railroad Antitrust
Bill, S.146. A vote on invoking cloture on a motion to proceed is scheduled for
June 2. Please contact
your senators right away and ask them to oppose the cloture vote and vote no on
the motion to proceed on the antitrust bill.
On
April 2, the BLET issued a Newsflash explaining their opposition to the
Antitrust legislative, stating that, "Instead of passing the Act, the BLET
encourages increased cooperation between labor, the government, shippers and
carriers." The newsflash referred to BLET
National President Ed Rodzwicz’s March 23 letters to the House
and Senate committees handling the issue to explain the BLET's position.
