INSTRUCTIONS

Read thoroughly before completing scholarship application.

 

1.  Please type or legibly print using black ink when filling out application. 

 

2.  Applicant must be a son or daughter of a member of the BLET Auxiliary and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen (living or deceased) with each being a member at least two (2) years.   If applying for a joint IWC scholarship, membership in the BLET Auxiliary is not required.    Please include yourself in the “Number in College” total.

 

3.  If you are a high school senior:

 

(a)  Complete Sections 1 and 3; and

(b)  An authorized copy of your ACT or SAT score must accompany  your application.  Also, please enclose a current copy of your cumulative grade point average (GPA).

                         

4.  If you are a graduate student or returning to school as a sophomore, junior or senior:

 

(a)  Complete Sections 2 and 3;

(b)  A copy of last term’s GPA must accompany your application; and

(c)  If reapplying, please attach relevant, current information pertaining to activities and information setting forth cumulative GPA for those currently enrolled in college. 

 

5.  If you are a graduate student or returning to school and applying for a scholarship, you must have a GPA of 3.0 or better to be eligible for consideration.

 

6.  In “Comments by Applicant” section, applicants are requested to submit a short essay about themselves.

           

7.  All applications must be signed as follows:

 

     (a)  If applicant’s parent is a member in good standing of a local Auxiliary, the application must be signed by the applicant, and parent or guardian, then forwarded to the local BLET Auxiliary Secretary for confirmation of membership and signature; or

     (b)  If applicant’s parent is a Member-at-Large (MAL), in good standing, the application must be signed by the applicant, and parent or guardian, and forwarded to the National Secretary for confirmation and signature.

                                                              

8.  Applicant must have been accepted to an accredited school for admission in order to be considered.    Please include a copy of the acceptance letter.

 

9.  Complete all information in order to aid the Scholarship Committee in making the selection(s).

 

10.  Completed applications must be received by the National Secretary no later than April 1.  Applications received after April 1 WILL NOT  be accepted.    Mail to:

11.  No consideration will be given to applicants who have not completely followed these instructions.
