INSTRUCTIONS

 

Read thoroughly before completing scholarship application.

 

1.  Please type and/or use black ink when filling out application. 

 

2.  Applicant must be a son or daughter of a member of the BLET Auxiliary and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen (living or deceased) with each being a member at least two (2) years.   Please include yourself in the “Number in College” total.

 

3.  If you are a high school senior:

 

     (a)  Complete Sections 1 and 3.

     (b)  An authorized copy of your ACT or SAT score must accompany  your application.  Also, please                  

           enclose a current copy of your cumulative GPA.

                             

4.  If you are a graduate student or returning to school:

 

     (a)  Complete Sections 2 and 3.

     (b)  A copy of last term’s cumulative grade point average (GPA) must accompany your application.

     (c)  If reapplying, please attach relevant, current information pertaining to activities and information                                        

           setting forth cumulative GPA for those currently enrolled in college. 

 

5.  If you are a graduate student or returning to school as a sophomore, junior, or senior and applying for a scholarship, you must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better to be eligible for consideration.

 

6.  In “Comments by Applicant” section, applicants are requested to submit a short essay about themselves.

               

7.  All applications must be signed as follows:

 

     (a)  If applicant’s parent is a member of an Auxiliary, in good standing, the application must be

            signed by the BLET Auxiliary Secretary and President, parent or guardian and applicant.

     (b)  If applicant’s parent is a Member-at-Large (MAL), the application must be signed by the

            National Secretary, parent or guardian and applicant.

                                                                              

8.  Applicant must have been accepted to an accredited school for admission in order to be considered.   

     Please include a copy of the acceptance letter.

 

9.  Complete all information in order to aid the Scholarship Committee in making the selection(s).

 

10.  Completed applications must be received by the National Secretary no later than April 1.  Applications received after April 1 WILL NOT  be accepted.    Mail to:

11.  No consideration will be given to applicants who have not completely followed these instructions.
