Delegate Information

If you have been elected as a delegate to represent your auxiliary at the National Convention, congratulations! It is an honor to serve your local auxiliary and the National Auxiliary in this way. In late May or early June, you will receive a detailed letter from National Secretary Helen Brand explaining how to make your hotel reservations and travel arrangements for the convention, as well as other information pertaining to your responsibilities as an elected delegate. Please read over the letter and enclosures carefully!

With that letter, you will receive a Delegate Credential certification form to be signed by the president and secretary of your auxiliary to verify your election. This form needs to be completed, signed, and returned to our National Secretary Helen Brand as soon as possible, but no later than July 1, 2018.

In August, delegates will receive a second mailing containing copies of the resolutions we have received by the deadline for submission (August 2, 2018), a copy of the Constitution & Bylaws, and a copy of the Journal of Proceedings from the 2014 National Convention. If this is your first time to attend a National Convention, please take time to read over the Journal of Proceedings to familiarize yourself with what takes place at these conventions. Also, please review the resolutions with the other members of your auxiliary prior to the convention so that you can decide as a group how your auxiliary members want you to vote on each one.

Most delegates will be arriving at the hotel on Sunday, September 30; however, if you are assigned to the Jurisprudence & Bylaws Committee or the Finance Committee, you will need to arrive on Saturday, September 29, in order to meet with your committee on Sunday. A list of committee assignments, as well as additional information pertaining to reservations, reimbursements, and other details regarding the convention will be included with the letter you receive in late May or early June.

All delegates must register for the convention on Sunday afternoon. The Auxiliary Registration Desk will be located in the BLET Registration Area. There you will be greeted by an Auxiliary national officer who will provide you with a packet containing your name tag, credentials for attendance, convention agenda, and other information. As a delegate, you will be compensated for your time at the National Convention; however, you must attend all required meetings in order to qualify for compensation. You will also be reimbursed for your travel and lodging expenses for the days that you are required to attend the General Session.
