BLET Auxiliary National President
I was born August 23, 1946, a product of rural Arkansas. From a small community called (Caledonia) near El Dorado, Arkansas.
I graduated from Rosenwald High School, Junction City, Arkansas/Louisiana in May 1964. I further my education receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a Minor in History from the University of Arkansas (AM&N), Pine Bluff, Arkansas in May 1968; Elementary Education from Mississippi Valley State College, presently Mississippi University at Itta Bena, Mississippi and Licensing Social Worker April 1983, Little Rock, Arkansas.
My working career began as a teaching in August 1968 as a 3rd and 4th Grades English and Writing Teacher, Lake Village, Arkansas. In September 1970-June1971, taught 4th,5th & 6 Grade Special Education in a self-contained classroom, Glenn Alan, Mississippi.
Upon moving to Little Rock, Arkansas in September 1971, I began working for the American Red Cross as an Armed Forces Emergency Service Caseworker. In The May 1982 I became the Director of the Armed Forces Emergency Services & Disaster Department with the American Red Cross. During my tenure there, I became the Armed Forces Emergency Services State Director, Taught Social Worker Classes to the State Emergency Worker. With many title changes, but with the same department, I retired on September 12, 2006, after 35 years of service. With a working career which spans over 38 years, I had only three jobs during my working career.
I am an active member in my church, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Little Rock, Arkansas where I serve as the Team Leader of the Women Mission Union, a choir member, Treasurer of the Church’s Finance Department, member of the bereavement support ministry, member of the weekly Bible Study Group and the Church Clerk.
I am also involved in our community activities as Secretary of the Little Rock Women City Mission, Deaconess President of the Union District Baptist Association Women Auxiliary, member of Union District Baptist Association Women choir, Recording Secretary and member of the National Association of University Women, Volunteer with the American Red Cross, Volunteer Advisory Committee member of Central Arkansas Veteran Healthcare Medical System,
Volunteer at the Department of Veteran Affairs and Corresponding Secretary for the BLET Auxiliary # 37.
I am married to Al Williams, Sr. for 51 years. We have four adult children, twenty-two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
