BLET Auxiliary National Treasurer

My husband, Chuck, and I were married a little over a year when he was hired by Southern Pacific Railroad, now Union Pacific Railroad and relocated to El Paso, Texas from Lubbock, Texas.  Both Chuck and I come from railroad families.  My Grandfather and Uncle both worked for Southern Pacific and Chuck’s Father was an engineer and served as the President of his local Division.  His Brother, Mark, is also an Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and has served as Secretary/Treasurer for Division 192. Chuck always has been active in the BLET holding the position of Local Chairman for many years.  He also has served as Vice General Chairman and presently serves as the General Secretary/Treasurer for the UP Western Lines General Committee of Adjustment.

I became a member of Auxiliary 6 here in El Paso in October of 1997. In February of 1998 we formed the “Pride of 591” where I transferred my membership.  I have served as the Auxiliary’s Secretary/Treasurer and presently serve as its President of our Auxiliary.  I have attended four National conventions and served as our delegate at the last three conventions.

We have a great group of spouses and family members here in El Paso and feel we have achieved many of our goals as well as helping many of our members.  We helped established a local Scholarship Fund for the El Paso members, have provided support for our members experiencing tragedies in their lives, and have been active in legislative issues. We have also been involved in community projects.  Our group is truly an organization that understands and supports what a railroad family experiences daily.

With the crazy railroad schedule, Chuck and I decided that I should stay home and raise our three children, Charlie, Tiffany and Samantha, until they entered high school.  I also managed to attend college and received an Associate Degree of Science, as a paralegal.  Once our children were in high school, I worked as a bookkeeper at a local construction company and for a church. I have continued my education by, attending many Department of Labor training sessions and additional bookkeeping classes.

I am very honored to serve this organization as your National Treasurer and hope that we continue to grow and serve our members.
